The clock for U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approval of spot-bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) applications will begin Wednesday after all eight applicants were listed on the Federal Register.
While the regulator published documents seeking public consultations last week, the clock on the review process formally starts only when filings are published in the register, which occurred Tuesday.
The eight applicants are BlackRock's iShares ETF filed on Nasdaq, Bitwise's Bitcoin ETP Trust filed on NYSE Arca and six others filed on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (Cboe): Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin Trust, WisdomTree Bitcoin Trust, VanEck Bitcoin Strategy ETF, Invesco Galaxy Bitcoin ETF, ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF and Valkyrie Bitcoin Strategy ETF.

Ripple's sale of XRP tokens on exchanges and through algorithms did not constitute investment contracts, but the institutional sale of the tokens did violate federal securities laws, a New York court ruled on Thursday.
The court published the conclusions in an order partially granting a motion for summary judgment in the ongoing case against the blockchain platform by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The SEC accused the firm and its executives CEO Brad Garlinghouse and co-founder Christian Larsen of failing to register XRP as security.

On-chain data provider Arkham Intelligence has started a bounty marketplace that will let people buy and sell on-chain cryptocurrency data.
The marketplace, dubbed the Arkham Intel Exchange, will feature a native token (ARKM) that is designed to "deanonymize the blockchain."
"We believe that deanonymization is destiny in crypto markets, and that the intelligence technology built by Arkham will serve as a foundation for the self-regulation of the crypto economy," Arkham said in a tweet.
The token will be issued on the Binance Launchpad with 50 million tokens up for sale, which equates to 5% of the total supply. Each user will be able to buy $15,000 worth of ARKM tokens in the sale, which runs from July 11 to July 17.

The second report of John J. Ray III and his FTX restructuring team (the “debtors”) was released on Monday, June 26, and it’s a doozy. The report firms up our sense of specific financial flows, including the use of customer funds for political donations and venture capital investments at defunct crypto exchange FTX and related hedge fund Alameda Research. Among those are many flows to entities controlled by friends and family of Sam Bankman-Fried, reinforcing the picture of a vast and coordinated criminal effort.
More explosively, the report claims that FTX executives were aware as early as August 2022 that the exchange was missing more than $8 billion in customer funds. This recasts many statements made by executives like Caroline Ellison, and especially by FTX CEO and co-founder Sam Bankman-Fried himself, in the following weeks and months.
